 49ers Owner Jed York’s $140 Ohio Arrest: What Court Records Reveal

San Francisco 49ers owner and CEO Jed York was arrested in East Palestine, Ohio, on Sunday in connection with an undercover prostitution investigation, according to court records and multiple reports.

According to an affidavit, investigators from the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force had posted an undercover advertisement on a prostitution website. York allegedly responded to the advertisement and arranged to meet a woman for sexual activity in exchange for $140.

York went to a mobile-home park in East Palestine for the arranged meeting, where law enforcement arrested him. Authorities said the cellphone he had with him had been used to arrange the encounter and was subsequently treated as a criminal tool in the case.

The case moved quickly. York was initially charged with engaging in prostitution and possessing criminal tools. Prosecutors later amended the prostitution charge to disorderly conduct. York pleaded no contest to the amended charge and to possessing criminal tools.

He was sentenced to concurrent jail terms with credit for time served and ordered to pay $1,150 in fines. A reported $160 seized during the arrest was also ordered forfeited to the task force.

The San Francisco 49ers said the matter had been resolved and declined to provide further comment. The NFL has said it is aware of the case and will review it under the league's personal conduct policy.

The incident now puts additional attention on York, who has served as the 49ers' CEO since 2008 and became the team's principal owner in 2024. Under his leadership, the franchise has reached three Super Bowls.

Note: A no-contest plea is not the same as a guilty plea, although the defendant accepts the punishment imposed by the court.
